Gwatkin Cider
Cider producer
Gwatkin Cider was founded in 1992 after Denis Gwatkin and some local lads started making a drop to enjoy and take to parties.
After years learning the craft of traditional cider making and with great support from family, the first gallons of cider and perry were produced.
Gwatkin Cider built a reputation for making ‘The Real Stuff’ and became the largest natural yeast maker in the country.
The business was set up at the family farm in Herefordshire’s picturesque Golden Valley where you’ll still find it today.
The Gwatkin cider shop, also based at the farm stocks the full range of cider and perry, available on draught, in flagons, bottles or bag in boxes.
You’ll also find their own range of spirits and bottled ales and you are always welcome to come along and sample the products.
Around the farm you can see examples of antique cider making equipment and farm tools from a bygone era.
During your visit why not take a walk in the beautiful surroundings. You will be able to see traditional farm animals as well as a selection of rare breeds. Extend your stay with a meal at Gwatkin Red Cow restaurant or stay even longer at the campsite or Granary accommodation.
Even though the cider world has changed over the last thirty years Gwatkin Cider have tried to keep to the winning recipe of making cider and perry how it would have been made centuries ago. Using only the best cider fruit and maturing it in the traditional way ensures timeless quality, but their own unique twist keeps it as popular today.
