Set in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside yet only minutes from Hereford city centre, The Steppes offers you a taste of ancient history at its best, yet keeps you in the luxury you would expect from a top rate bed and breakfast establishment all year round.
With three award-winning ensuite rooms of which all have outside doors to the gardens with easy access to a large free car parking area. All rooms are 4 star deluxe rooms (two king size rooms and one twin), all en suite as you might expect from a top rated establishment. (Booking.com 9.6)(TripAdvisor Hall of Fame).
2019 also brings a slightly new approach with the UpStairs suite now turned into a self catering apartment and we have set a minimum of four nights stay.
If you would like to experience our UpStairs suite for yourself, then please ring us on 01432 851536 to book your stay with us.
UpStairs has the same high standard of finish as the rest of The Steppes. The UpStairs Suite includes a luxurious shower room with walk-in shower, Italian designed washbasin and underfloor heating (shower room only). There is also a fully functional kitchen comprising sink/drainer, oven with a ceramic hob above. A fridge and plenty of storage completes the kitchen area. With the dining table there is everything you would expect such as crockery, cutlery, condiments, etc. Naturally a comfortable bed is key to a relaxing break so we have installed a king size (5ft) bed dressed in 100% cotton bedlinen.
A complimentary welcome pack will be in the UpStairs Suite when you arrive. This will include fresh milk, teas, coffee, sugar and biscuits to ensure you can make yourselves comfortable.
Up Stairs could be used as a bridal suite if required and it is separate from the main house, above the garage.
The Steppes dates back to the 16th century and has survived Civil War and many uprisings over the years. The original building was said to have been erected in 1530 when Henry VIII was King of England and England was torn by the Restoration.
Today however, it is a happy home for Lin and Martin. Lin is a keen advocate for self-sufficiency and as such has a large vegetable garden, sheep and bees. If the bees have been busy there will be honey for sale – just ask Lin for details. In any event, there is always honey on the breakfast table. Lin also makes your breakfast bread every day moulding Shipton Mill organic flours into deliciously tasty loaves and toast for you to enjoy.
The house is located off road and footpaths are across the unadopted trails, adjacent to the gardens, and the village of Lugwardine enjoys a good bus service into Hereford, Ledbury and the surrounding area. It is also close to the local pub – The Crown and Anchor.
Dogs welcome in some of the rooms by arrangement.
