Frome Valley Vineyard
Vineyard, tours and tastings, shop
Frome Valley Vineyard is set amongst the orchards and hop yards of Herefordshire’s Frome Valley. Visit Frome Valley Vineyard where you can enjoy the taste of the vineyard in a guided tour and tasting.
Just outside Bishops Frome and tucked into a beautiful, south-facing sweep of the River Frome, the clay loam of Herefordshire creates a fantastic “terroir” for the grapes and therefore award-winning, delicious still and sparkling wines are produced.
They also make a stunning aromatic and smooth brandy from these grapes as well.
The guided tour will take you through the model vineyard which demonstrates why different kinds of trellising works in different parts of the world. Moving onto the main vineyard there will be discussions about the highs and lows of bringing in a grape harvest every year and then it’s back to the winery to taste what is currently in the shop and end up with an opportunity to pick what you would like to take home to enjoy at leisure!
The vineyard was established in the early 1990s and the vine varieties reflect what was available at the time. As the years pass, the maturity of the wine they make has developed as well. The making of English wine is a fascinating and delicate process which has evolved from a slightly Heath Robinson approach in its early days into a sophisticated art practised by some of the world’s exceptional wine makers. It has been hugely good fun and pretty awesome to have been able to be a small part of it.
Call to book 01885 490 768 or visit the website www.fromevalleyvineyard.co.uk to book a tour and tasting at £20 per person, over 18. Groups of up to 20 can be accommodated.
