Green Lane Carriage
Vintage Railway Carriage
If you’re looking for a secluded hideaway nestled in the beautiful north Herefordshire countryside, Green Lane Carriage is an ideal choice.
Set among orchards with far‑reaching views towards the Black Mountains, this lovingly restored vintage railway carriage offers a truly quirky and memorable stay. While it evokes the charm of a bygone era, the interior is finished to an exceptionally high standard, complete with modern comforts and a cosy wood‑burner, perfect for relaxing on cooler evenings.
The carriage is ideal for families, comfortably sleeping four (two adults and two children). It also makes a great base for exploring the area, with easy access to historic Hereford, the famous ‘town of books’ Hay‑on‑Wye, the artistic market town of Kington, and the picturesque Black and White Village Trail. Walkers and cyclists will find plenty of routes right on the doorstep.
Green Lane Carriage is located on a working farm owned by Steve and Claire Layton, whose family has farmed here since 1930, adding an authentic sense of heritage to your stay.
Whether you want to explore the surrounding countryside or simply unwind in peaceful surroundings with only chickens and sheep for company, this charming nod to the age of steam offers a true escape from everyday life. Quiet, rural and unhurried, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy life in the slow lane.
