L’Ecole Des Amis

French Restaurant in Hereford

A Taste of France in the Heart of Herefordshire.

Discover relaxed French dining, local produce and warm hospitality in a beautifully restored Credenhill school house.

Newly bestowed with an AA Rosette in 2026, L’école des Amis in Credenhill, Hereford, is an elegant French restaurant with a beautifully understated sense of luxury. Housed in a sensitively restored 1885 school house, it brings together timeless character and relaxed sophistication, creating a setting that feels both refined and genuinely welcoming.

Original architectural features, generous proportions and a calm, intimate atmosphere give the restaurant a distinctive charm, while the experience remains warm, personal and effortlessly hospitable.

The food is rooted in classic French cooking, interpreted with confidence, restraint and care. Menus are seasonal and thoughtfully composed, with a small à la carte selection, fresh homemade dishes, fish specials and a carefully chosen French wine list. Wherever possible, local Herefordshire ingredients are used, allowing French technique and tradition to sit naturally alongside the quality and freshness of regional produce.

The restaurant is led by business partners Bruce and Cedric, two accomplished chefs and long-standing friends whose shared passion for food and hospitality is woven through every detail of L’école des Amis. Bruce brings decades of kitchen experience and a deep understanding of hospitality, while Cedric contributes classically trained French expertise and a strong connection to the traditions of French cuisine.

Together, they have created a restaurant that feels stylish yet unpretentious — a place where polished cooking, thoughtful service and genuine warmth come together with ease. Their partnership gives the restaurant its distinctive identity: professional yet always personal, inviting and full of character.
