At the end of a winding, mile-and-a-half track, past fields of lovingly-nurtured cows and sheep, you’ll find Crumplebury.

A series of uniquely modern buildings, set in a wildflower meadow at the centre of a 1,500-acre private Herefordshire estate, it’s a feast for the senses.

With fine dining, farm-to-fork restaurant Green Cow Kitchens at its heart, Crumplebury has 11 spoiling bedrooms – named after the farms and coppices on the estate, with insanely comfy beds and ginormous roll-top baths – and a luxury two-bedroom self-catering cottage with private garden and wood-fired hot tub.

It’s the perfect escape to the country.

Feast on delicious, seasonal tasting menus in Green Cow, where organic Shorthorn beef and lamb from the home farm and pheasant, partridge, duck and venison from the Whitbourne Estate take centre stage.

Carefully-curated dishes celebrate fruit and vegetables harvested, still warm, from the kitchen garden and, in season, chefs forage for elderflower, berries, puffballs and pine.

In the orchards, Gloucester Old Spot and Tamworth pigs root happily and if you’re lucky, you’ll get a taste of the wild, brown trout which swim in the babbling Sapey Brook.

Explore beautiful Longfield Wood where, in spring, you’ll walk through carpets of wild garlic and bluebells.

Here, in summer, you’ll stumble across Crumplebury’s Woodland Feasts – enchanted, candlelit gatherings in a secret glade, piano music and love and laughter filing the air.

Grab a cold beer or a glass of bubbles from the farm Landy, now transformed into a bar and barbecue.

Head to the Sunken Terrace for a Fire Pit Feast, or indulge in a cocktail or three in the Drinking Trough.

The Grand Hall and Art Gallery are dazzling event spaces, hosting weddings, corporate away-days, car and product launches and glittering black tie performances from the likes of the ESO.

Come and play.
