ELY Memorial Fund
Charity
The Charity was set up in memory of Emma Louise Young (E.L.Y.). Emma tragically lost her life in a road traffic collision. She was just 23 and an only daughter. Emma died on the 30 September 2010 at 10.10pm. It was a day and time that changed her families lives forever. Emma died Intestate and she also had no Life Insurance, upon which, her funeral costs were not covered. Her funeral cost was £5,000 which fell to her parents. They didn’t have sufficient funds to cover such costs. If it wasn’t for Emma’s Nan they would not have been able to give Emma a funeral she truly deserved.
The family started fundraising in March 2011 with the objective to relieve financial hardship for families within the County if their son or daughter, between the age of 17 to 25, is tragically killed in a road traffic collision. Officially becoming a Registered Charity August 2012.
Now able to provide a condolence gift of up to £3,000 to contribute towards the funeral costs so a family who live in Herefordshire can mourn and arrange their child’s funeral without the added stress and financial burden. They also provide help and support through other groups, such as looking into life insurance, will writing and emotional support for victims of road traffic collisions.
Their other objective is to support young people across the county to become safer drivers, educating them in road safety to help reduce road collisions involving young drivers.
